Welcome to Heatherwood in picture. The following page carries some photo's of the Social Hall.
The construction of the hospital in 1922, did not show the social hall as part of the original pictures. This was constructed later, according to a press article in 1949 the new hall is mentioned.
The surrounding forestry came close to the side of the admin building, where later the social hall was added.
The photo's which were taken in 1921 when the hospital was nearing completion. The photo's are from the Royal Institute of British Architects web site.
Hospital RIBAThe social hall in the early years was used as a fundraising venue, children's panto's were also performed on the stage.
Where possible we have detailed some information about the pictures.

The social hall has now been converted to the occupational therapy unit.

Video 9.The video captures the old social hall, which has been re-purposed as occupational therapy offices. A walk round by the League of Friends Treasurer captures a more up to date image of the building. The old canteen and social services and physiotherapy are also included in the video.
